Kemajuan Penelitian Bioteknologi Penyakit CVPD

ABSTRAK
CVPD (Citrus Vein Phloem Degeneration) merupakan penyakit terpenting tanaman jeruk. CVPD di Indonesia disebabkan oleh bakteri Gram negatif Liberibacter asiaticum yang ditularkan oleh serangga vektor Diaphorina citri dan melalui mata¬≠¬† tempel pada pembibitan jeruk (grafting). Perkembangan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di Indonesia ditemukan beberapa strain bakteri CVPD tersebar diberbagai daerah. Perbedaan strain ini diduga menyebabkan terjadinya perbedaan gejala dan perbedaan patogenisitas. Mekanisme tingkat molekul infeksi penyakit CVPD pada tanaman jeruk melibatkan dua molekul protein yang menghambat transport mineral (ion) ke dalam sel tanaman, sehingga menimbulkan gejala defisiensi unsur hara seperti Zn, Mn, Mg dan lainnya. Gen resisten terhadap penyakit CVPD (CVPD’) telah berhasil diisolasi dan diklon dari tanaman jeruk kinkit dan Poncirus trifoliata. Tanaman transgenik yang membawa gen CVPD’ terse but menunjukkan toleransi yang lebih baik terhadap penyakit CVPD dibandingkan dengan tanaman jeruk non transgenik.

ABSTRACT
CVPD (Citrus Vein Phloem Degeneration) was the most important disease on citrus plant. In Indonesia, a Gram negative bacterium of Liberibacter asiaticum was the cause in CPVD which transmitted by Diaphorina citri vector insect and through the budwood on citrus grafting. Research development in Indonesia indicated that some bacterial strain of CVPD was found to diffuse in various areas. This strain distinction assumed to result in existing of symptom and pathogenic different. Molecular level mechanism of CVPD disease infection on citrus plant involved two proteins molecular which inhibit mineral transport (ion) into plant cell, so that it inflicted deficiency symptom in mineral agent such as Zn, Mn, Mg and others. Gene that resisted to CVPD disease has been succeeded to isolate and to clone from citrus plant of kinkit and Poncirus trifoliata. Transgenic plant carried those CVPD gene showed better tolerance against CVPD disease compared with non-transgenic citrus plant.
