ICSFRI launched new technologies on 30 September 2017. There were four new innovations introduced to the public. The innovations were created through overcome problems related to citrus. The four innovation technologies are: 1). Expert system utilizes the advance of information technology and network by using web-based application. In the future, the application will be further developed so it can be downloaded through smart phone as well.  Some tools are installed in the field and the data obtained could be sent online so that the user could monitor the field real time 2) Slow release fertilizers are created to overcome leaching of fertilizers in the field as well as provide the fertilizer according to the need of the plants which based on the chemical state in root environment and

Fruit fly (Bactrocera spp) is one of important pests in citrus. The damage caused by its larvae trigger early fruit abscission. This causes loss of yield and decrease in fruit quality. The attacked fruits could be identified easily due to change in fruit skin color around the part where the fly pricks which decaying fast. Within the area, there could be found a small hole. This is due to the larvae that live inside the fruits that make the fruit decays. If it is cut, the larvae will be seen and jump around when touched. For fruit production purpose, good seed is derived from vegetative propagation, which may be obtained by shoot grafting, air layering, bud grafting, or stem cutting.   Longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) is one of the members in Sapindaceae family that also includes litchi and rambutan under the genus Nephelium. It is originated in temperate area then adapted well in tropics. In Indonesia, longan is usually consumed fresh although the fruit can also be found as canned product and dried fruit. In Chinese, the fruit is known as “ong ya guo” or “long yan” which means dragon’s eye. There the fruits are used for health and beauty purpose. Longan fruits are claimed to improve vitality, insomnia, anxiety, loss of appetite, weak stomach, headache, diarrhea, cough and asthma, blurred vision and smoothing the skin.
